Day 5/365 (1/5/2012) |
Today I picked up the Newbery Medal Winner The Slave Dancer by Paula Fox. It was a riveting read...and completely disturbing. What worked at my conscience is the awareness that the horrors of slavery and human trafficking are not just confined to the 1800s and before. Rather, slavery and human trafficking are alive and well...well, EVIL, in our world today. The injustice has compounded and multiplied exponentially over the years...yes, even in our own country.
January has now been declared U.S. Anti-Trafficking month by President Obama. To read more about the horrors of modern-day slavery, please follow the links to The CNN Freedom Project and to The Frederick Douglass Family Foundation, as well as International Justice Mission. Education and awareness are the first step toward making a lasting difference in our world TODAY.
Hi Jenn, thank you for sharing this information and for supporting our work! Kenny
